AEIS Examination Age Requirement for Primary Level

New international students who do not have a place in a local school and who wish to seek admission into Primary 2–5 and Secondary 1–3 are eligible to take part in AEIS.

There are 2 tests for Primary level: one test for Primary 2 / 3 (P2 / P3) admission and another for Primary 4 / 5 (P4 / P5) admission. Applicants should sit for the primary test appropriate for their age cohorts. The appropriate test level is shown below:

For instance, applicants who are 8 to 8+ who sit for the P2 / P3 test may be placed to Primary 3, Primary 2, Primary 1, or be found unsuccessful, depending on their performance in the tests and their age. Applicants who are 10 to 10+ who sit for the P4 / P5 test may be placed to Primary 5, Primary 4 or Primary 3, or be found unsuccessful, depending on their performance in the tests and their age.

MOE does not recommend admission to levels where international students will be more than two years older than their classmates.
